Niagara Parks Power Station “Evolution” Expansion

Niagara Falls

The Niagara Parks Power Station is a massive, high-tech museum that has opened in phases in recent years — and now it features a tunnel that allows visitors to go more than 50 metres underground to a viewing platform at the base of Niagara Falls. The summer of 2026 marks the debut of a major new interactive audio-visual experience. Stay for an enhanced light show — with 3D projection mapping — designed to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the station’s transformation into a world-class cultural hub in dazzling style. — Cassandra McCalla

RADAR | THE END OF THE ROAD

Lakeside Park Carousel

St. Catharines, Ont.

Prepare to be amused. Head to the very end of Lakeport Road in Port Dalhousie to find a rare survivor of the golden age of amusement parks. Hand-carved in Brooklyn, New York, by master carver Charles I.D. Looff and his team from 1898 to 1905, it was moved to St. Catharines in 1921. It delighted riders for decades before falling into disrepair. Restored to operational status in 1981, this ride is one of only nine antique hand-carved carousels remaining in Canada. It features 68 animals, including horses, lions, camels, goats and giraffes. The park has many weeping willows, which feature in the lyrics to the Rush song Lakeside Park — the band’s lyricist worked at the park as a teenager, and the Neil Peart Pavilion was named in his honour. — Will Scott

RADAR | GREAT TASTE

The CAAnada Eh Pie

Canadians are known to have great taste, eh? And one local pizzeria is celebrating that with a special Canadiana-style pizza — just in time for Canada Day. You Had Me at Pizza in Grimsby is running a special feature pie called the CAAnada Eh Pie. This pizza — whose name (you guessed it) is a nod to the pizzeria’s partnership with CAA — starts with a homemade sourdough crust and a garlic butter base. Add on some locally sourced ingredients such as prosciutto, asparagus and goat cheese, and then top it off with a tangy balsamic drizzle. You Had Me at Pizza will have you coming back for more. — Sean Deasy Members save 10% when dining in at You Had Me at Pizza.
