WHERE IN THE WORLD?
Welland Canal Memorial Monument
I was surprised and proud to see my local landmark featured. I live nearby and walk my dog Rhett along the Welland Canal trails often. In the summer, I must keep him from jumping into the fountain’s water to cool off! Rhett’s vision is not great, and when we walk in the evenings, he approaches the bronze statues carefully, as if he’s afraid they’re actual, real-life people. This landmark memorial is located in my hometown, in Merritt Park on King St. It’s a well-visited park, where many events are held. Especially in the summer, when musical concerts are held just behind this monument on the floating stage and amphitheatre. Born and raised in Welland and proud of it! –Lorna M.

A GREAT FIRST IMPRESSION
