RADAR | HOT SPOT

Mindbomb Records, St. Catharines

As the Niagara region’s best independent source for new-release and reissued vinyl, Mindbomb is already the destination of choice for hobbyists and serious collectors alike. And now it’s 10 years old! Pop in for Record Store Day on April 12 — a global celebration of indie music shops — to acknowledge Mindbomb’s 10th anniversary and to peruse carefully curated stacks in the gallery-like space. Be sure to ask owner Chris Charkowy about special releases in each key genre, from rock to rap.

Niagara Whirlpool Trail

Explore this trail with unmatched close-up views of the 4,000-year-old Niagara Whirlpool, framed by a dense forest. If you begin your descent towards Niagara Gorge at the trail’s entryway (located six minutes away from Clifton Hill), it’s a 1.9-kilometre out-and-back hike amid oak, maple and beech trees — and sounds of the naturally occurring aqueous phenomenon.

RADAR | GREAT TASTE

Hot on the Grill

Warm up to spring with the great Canadian sausage. Made with pork, peameal bacon, cheddar cheese and maple syrup, it’s a popular choice among the many delectable selections on offer at Lemayzzz Meats. The rotating menu of 30 flavours of pork and chicken sausage includes dill pickle, pizza and honey hot. Bring it home to cook or enjoy it right away: the BBQ behind the shop grills mouthwatering sausage daily, year-round.

CAA Members save 5% in-store every Wednesday at both Lemayzzz Meats locations in Niagara.
